Origin
The Anthurium, or Flamingo Flower, grows in nature in the tropical rain-forests of Middle and South America. The Anthurium is a member of the Araceae or Arum family, which also includes Dieffenbachia, Philodendron and Spathiphyllum.

Living room
The ideal temperature for the Anthurium is room temperature. i.e. about 20°C. A sunny spot is ideal for continued flowering, although you should avoid the full sun. Make sure that the soil remains moist (brown); however it must not be too wet (black). These plants appreciate lukewarm rainwater, which will prevent the development of brown leaf tips and spots on the foliage and flowers.

Care
Give the plant some fertilizer once a month during the period from April to September. The plant can be maintained in a fresh condition by spraying the foliage with lukewarm rainwater. You can remove any dead flowers and discoloured foliage. Repot the plant in a larger pot after a period of two to three years.
